Edward J. Thomas - World War II

Memphis Tennesse from the Mississippi River 1943
Genuine Curteich-Chicago "C.T. Art-Colortone" Post Card

Before troops were sent to Memphis, a major military base during World War II racial relations, racism was a major problem in Memphis.

I am hoping that if you have read these letters, that one realizes that the race problem had not been just an issue in the South. As pointed out in history of the Detroit, Michigan area, race riots broke out during 1943.

I will add more to this story, as I add this timeline of Edward Thomas. There is even an entry where Eddie is confronted by some men in Memphis who are blatantly racist.
